This is a very sweet (and sometimes sexy) contemporary M/M romance. When I say the book is “sometimes” sexy, I mean that there are some blushable moments in this one. Although it should be noted that this book does NOT revolve around sex. Rather, it is a very sweet and budding romance between two males who are total opposites, but totally fated to be together. Overall, I really enjoyed this novel. Having never read a book by the author before I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. But I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised and found this to be one of the better M/M romances that I have read in a long time. Hopefully the author will continue to write novels like these because if she does I will definitely be picking them up in the future!
So this story is about two men who fall in love even though there are a few obstacles standing in their way. For instance, Caddock comes from a home where his father is not as open-minded to same sex relationships and Francis had been attacked in the past for his sexual preferences. In addition to this, Caddock has the sole responsibility of caring for his brother’s child after he died. While this is a difficult task on its own, it becomes more difficult when Caddock’s father threatens to take legal action on his and take this child away because he is in a relationship with a man. Each of these instances play a role in the tiny bit of drama that comes from this book. It should be noted that this book is NOT overly dramatized and I found this to be a breath of fresh air. Each and every difficulty is able to be overcome.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It is a fairly quick read and emits a lot of love and devotions from the characters. Nothing about this book is overemotional. The author is able to write a book that is easy for us to sympathize with the characters and is also sensitive to the issues that surround same sex relationships and marriages. As I said before, I would be happy to read another book by the author as it is well written and smooth.
