★★★★ 5 -Officially Hooked- Stars ★★★★
The wealthy son of a rocker. A tough farm girl from Alabama. Two step-siblings from different worlds. One summer in Rosemary Beach.
The last thing Blaire Wynn wants is to move in with her father’s new family in Rosemary Beach, Florida. She has no choice. Blaire’s mother has passed away after a long illness, leaving behind a mountain of medical debts and no way for Blaire to keep their small Alabama farmhouse.
Driving into the wealthy resort town in a pickup truck with a pistol under her seat, Blaire knows she’ll never fit in. She’s even more disappointed to discover that her father has left for Paris, leaving her with her new stepbrother, Rush Finlay. The cynical, condescending, and unapologetic son of an infamous rock star, Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous—and he immediately gets under Blaire’s skin.
But as the summer goes by, Blaire begins to see a side of Rush she never expected, and the chemistry between them becomes impossible to ignore. Unknown to her, Rush has a secret that could destroy Blaire’s entire world. Will she find out what he’s hiding before she falls too far?
EEEPP! I am officially hooked to the Rosemary Beach Series. I have heard a lot of great things about this series from fellow readers so figured I should give it a try. WOW. I am so glad I did. I loved the story about Blaire and Rush -- but OMG that CLIFFY! Good thing I one clicked the next two books in the series. It’s nice not to have to wait to see what happens with them. Anyways, this is a great read. You get love, romance, a girl who knows how to use a gun, family secrets, and tragedies all mixed in. Now I finally know what readers are raving about.
About the Book:
Blaire needs a place to stay after her mother dies. She has no money, no home, and a father who walked out on her 5 years ago. When she shows up at her father’s looking for a place to stay she meets this intense and brooding guy who turns out to be her stepbrother. Things between them are pretty heated for a bit. He doesn’t like her, she doesn’t fit in with the crowed, and people have no problem saying mean and nasty things to her. But he lets her stay with them anyway because she has nowhere to go.
Rush is a super-rich and super sexy bad boy. He comes from money, can get any girl he wants at the drop of a dime, and is very loyal to his family. When Blaire walks into his life though his world suddenly spins off its axis. This is a girl he is supposed to hate yet, he is inexplicably drawn to her sweet and charming ways.
Even though there is some bad blood between the two and secrets are being kept, the two can’t help coming together. There’s some sort of magnetic force between them that won’t allow them to pull apart. But family secrets don’t stay buried and soon one of them will be left to pick up the pieces of a broken heart…
I think it is pretty clear that I loved the characters in this story. Well, a few of them anyway. Blaire, is She is hell on hells. She has a gun for protection, isn’t afraid to use it, and actually knows how to use. She is a tough southern chick and sweet as apple pie. Some may say she is too perfect but hey, there are girls like her out there! She has a lot of baggage but she knows when to let it show and when not too.
Rush is the bad boy and totally sexy. He has an attitude but is loyal when it comes to his family. Once readers get to know him and are let into his world they will fall head over heels in love with his sweet and charming side.
Grant is Rush’s stepbrother. He offers Blaire help when no one else wants too. I hope there is a story about him in the future… Hmm… I’ll have to check this out as I am a new fan.
Woods is also a pretty cool character but he is one of those arrogant men that thinks he can get what he wants when he wants it. Although I have to admit, towards the end his character made me feel softer about him.
Other characters in this story that I didn’t like (and readers aren’t supposed to anyway) include Rush’s sister Nan, her friends, Georgina (his mother), and Blaire’s deadbeat father. TOTAL ASSHHATS the lot of them!
Overall, I really enjoyed this story. Again, I have never read a story by Abbi Glines before but thankfully have now (all my reader friends who have talked non-stop about these books get a special thanks from me). I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories in the series. If you haven’t read this book, are looking to get into a new series, or are just curious than I highly recommend picking this book up. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with it. But be warned, it does end in a cliffhanger and you may be one clicking faster than you can get done with the last page!
When I'm being forced up a mountainside with a backpack weighing me down, terrified of meeting a bear around the next corner or when I'm being hauled out into choppy waters holding on for dear life afraid I'll be pitched over at any moment, I wonder why, exactly, I married my crazy husband. Then again having an adventurous if somewhat insane spouse has been the best muse a writer could ask for. My debut novel, Breathe - a YA contemporary romance, was released May,17, 2011 by Wild Child Publishing and it's thanks to one of those spur of the moment boat trips that sparked the idea for Breathe. I've been writing all my life but it wasn't until I tried my hand at YA fiction that I found my groove. Apparently I never really grew up, which may explain my marriage to a dare devil. I've recently signed the contract on my first YA paranormal titled Existence to be released this Christmas. On October 21, I will be releasing The Vincent Boys - an older YA romance with an edgier feel. It will be available in digital format on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
