As assistant buyer for the world’s second-largest Christmas store, Kelsey Parker feels like a holiday harlot. She’s contractually obligated to promote the yuletide season. All. Year. Long. And it’s taking a toll on her spirit. But when her clueless, self-absorbed boyfriend goes on their long-anticipated romantic vacation—without her!—Kelsey is beyond disappointed to find herself tromping through the Bell Harbor snow instead of lounging on a tropical beach.
Drew Hampton is considered quite a catch among the Bell Harbor bachelorettes, but when his high school dream girl, Kelsey Parker, shows up at his grandfather’s Christmas tree lot complaining about her love life, he decides it’s long past time to get her under the mistletoe himself.
As things heat up between the two, a surprise visitor arrives, making Kelsey an offer she can’t quite believe. Now she must decide what matters most, and she just may discover the key to her happiness.
My Thoughts (Review)
Kelsey Parker is supposed to be on a long awaited, romantic vacation with her boyfriend, Blake. But when her grandmother falls and breakers her hips, Kelsey must trade in her polka dot bikini for Bell Harbor, even though Blake goes on the trip anyway. However, Bell Harbor doesn’t seem all that bad when she runs into Drew Hampton, the man that had a crush on her since their high school days.
Drew Hampton has grown up quite a bit since high school. Who would have thought he would turn out to be such a hunk? So when Kelsey decides to bid on him at the bachelor’s auction, she begins to realize that looks aren’t the only thing that Drew has to offer. And when the two finally get together after all these years, sparks begin to fly.
**Squeals of delight!** I loved, loved, loved, this holiday romance novel by Tracy Brogan. It offers so many delightful things to all fans of Christmas! You get Christmas trees, Christmas carols, ugly holiday sweaters, and a couple of grandma’s who have been hitting the spiked egg nog a little bit hard. On top of this, the story is absolutely HILARIOUS! I haven’t found myself laughing so hard at a book in a long time. Kelsey’s grandmother reminds me of grandma Mazur from the Stephanie Plum series. She is cookoo, a huge fan of Fifty Shades of Grey (even goes to an erotic book club), and calls her bra a “boulder-holder”. Kelsey is one of those female protagonists that readers enjoy and can relate too. Although she has a boyfriend, one she starts to hang out with her old school pal, Drew, she realizes what life should be like. Drew is the handsome, science teacher (ohhh, his nerdy glasses ::swoons: ). Readers will fall in love with him from the get go. He is charming and one of those guys women pray for. Blake, is a jerk. He cares more about his job than Kelsey, and finally after two years she figures this out. Good thing too or she would not have found a real man like Drew.
The plot and writing style of this book is outstanding. Although it is fairly short (110 pages) all the characters are able to develop. We get a real sense of who each one is, and we love them (I know I did). With that being said, after reading this one (thank you, netgalley) I will be picking up the other books in the series. I am officially hooked to this author! J I highly recommend this one, friends. It is such a cute Christmas romance!
