I received a copy of this novel via the author, Dallas Cole in exchange of an honest review. Thank you!
Lennox knows he's a dead man walking. He's done his time and paid for his crimes, but the crew never forgets.
Elena Drazic was raised with grease under her nails. She's no stranger to the ride or die mentality. So when Lennox arrives back in town after an accident that tore her crew apart, she knows nothing good can come from his freedom.
But she can't forget how he makes her feel. And when she's with him, she can't remember why she's supposed to stay away.
This is an awesome debut novel that incorporates some pretty hot and heavy stuff! You get fast cars, a sexy and badass ex con who easily seeps into your heart, and some angst. Did I mention the tattoos? Cuz we get some of those too. SWOON! Overall, this is a very well written debut novel. When I first read the blurb I knew immediately that I had to pick it up and let me tell you, I am very glad I was able to read it! The author mixes some heavy stuff into this book but it really doesn’t take away from the romance aspects. Sometimes when we think of ex-cons who have done some crappy things in their lives we feel like we won’t be able to connect with the character- hey, sometimes we can’t get over these things! But this is so not true for this novel! It’s a really great read and I highly recommend readers trying this one out.
So what’s the story about? It’s about a man named Lennox and a woman named Elena. Lennox is the bad boy of the story who has just gotten out of prison for manslaughter. He enjoys fast cars, races them, and leaves others in the dust. But he is also the outcast of his family for what he did and it takes a lot of strength to get back into everyone’s good graces. This fight won’t be easy for him, but his determination is quite apparent. Elena has loved Lennox her entire life but hasn’t been able to do anything about it for a few reasons. First, she was too young for him. Then, he went to prison. But now that she is older and finally able to figure out what went wrong with Lennox, things begin to change and her feelings that were once hidden suddenly reappear. Can the two ever become one like they had always hoped? Or will they forever be within arm’s reach but not touching?
This is a great debut novel (as I said before) and I strongly suggest picking it up. You will swoon, you will get angry, and your heart will literally race. The entire story is beautifully written and it is very clear that the author knows her stuff when it comes to cars. I found this to be very helpful as I am not really a “car type of girl”. So, just pick this one up. You will not be disappointed!
