Baseball isn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…
The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase... he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.
I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.
Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.
And everything in my world broke apart.
I LOVED this book! It’s sexy, intriguing, and filled with tension and suspense. It has twists and turns that readers will not expect and the ending will shock you! Now, although there were some parts that I didn’t care for (ex. The affair) I easily got over it because everything else overshadowed it. With that being said, this is a story about a love that would never die. A love so strong that two people, after years, simply had to be together no matter what walls were blocking them. There is hurt and pain, but there is also a bond that is so deep that it overcomes everything else. Woah. This book took me on a rollercoaster ride and I loved every second. Now that I am finally getting into more of the authors work, I am loving it and can’t wait to see what else she brings us in the near future! It just keeps getting better and better. I highly recommend this one friends! One of my favorites of the year!
So, what does this book have to offer that other sports romances don’t? The twists and turns for one! There is a serial killer knocking off blond girls. Now, although the story doesn’t just focus on this (the relationship between Chase and Ty overpowers it) it is there causing a lot of tension. Readers will have no clue as to who is doing this so when you finally figure it out you’ll say Hmmm…. I really loved this aspect of the story because it gave it a certain uniqueness that other stories simply don’t have. This book is also unique in the fact that it starts off as a very forbidden relationship between Chase and Ty (she is underage when they first get together) and continues to be forbidden for other reasons (you’ll have to read it to find out). So, not only is it is sports romance, but it is also a forbidden new adult romance, AND romantic suspense! Yes, that’s definitely a mouthful and quite the mix but it is all true!
Overall, I absolutely LOVED this story and am now going to have to go back any buy more of Alessandra’s previous books (that ones that I don’t already own). Hehe. She knows how to give readers a story so unique that they will fall in love. With that being said, Alessandra also tests a few boundaries in her stories (especially this one). There will be some moments where readers might begin to scratch their head, and some moments that with downright anger you. But you need to see past these “flaws” and read the entire story with an open mind. If you do this, you will probably love it as much as I do! Anyway, pick this one up. It’s very good!
