The Fable of Us by Nicole Williams
Standalone, Contemporary Romance Novel
A Southern Second Chance Love Story
Release Date: February 2, 2016
let her overbearing family or her run-in with Boone rattle her—though rattling her is obviously Boone’s primary objective.
Boone is her past and her past is behind her, a mere speck in the rearview. So why does she feel it coming back every time she looks at him? Why does she see it every time he looks back?
Just when Clara’s life can’t possibly get more complicated, the ground shifts, and she discovers just how far her family was willing to go to keep the wrong boy out of her life. Was it really Boone who left her? Or was it Clara who left him?
The truth will be hard to face. Especially when she discovers most of her life has been built on lies.
Woah. Nichole Williams has weaved one of the most intense yet gorgeous stories that I have ever read with THE FABLE OF US. The story of Boone and Clara is emotional, gut-wrenching, deep, beautiful, and sublimely heartfelt. It touched by heart, broke my heart, make me smile, made me sad, and made me want to fall in love all over again just to feel those wonderful butterflies one feels when they know they are falling in deep. This my friends, is what the story did to ME. I have read a lot of amazing books so far this year, but this one has easily made its way to my top favorite reads (even of all time).
For those who are interested in this beautiful story, I will sum it up a bit just so you know what you’re getting into. Please be aware that there will be MANY instances where you want to go through the pages and punch some of the secondary characters in the face. For some reason, Clara’s parents and sisters treat her as if she is a moron. You see the Abbots are rich… they don’t date or associate with those who are “lower class” so when Clara dates Boone when she is younger, all hell breaks loose. Boone is not rich. He has a drunk for a mother and no father in sight. He doesn’t live in a mansion, money doesn’t fall from his trees, and he doesn’t do materialistic things. Fast forward 7 years later and Clara and Boone end up reconnecting again, although neither are very happy to see one another because the two had an awful breakup when they were younger. The breakup is for reasons I can’t get into because it will spoil the story but let’s just say it’s because of some very big misunderstandings and a lot of secrets and lies from family members. When the reconnection process begins, neither think love will strike them again. But $10,000 is a lot of money, the kind of money that Clara offers Boone if he will be her plus 1 at her sister’s wedding. Boone agrees. But the process won’t be easy for either of them. Secrets and lies from the past will still haunt them and until they can finally hear each other out in terms of what really happened, neither will be able to find love again…
Overall, I love this book to pieces. It is an easy 6 star read for me and will be going to the TOP of my FAVORITES list. I love a story that will touch my heart and this one does just that. Having never read a book by the author before, you can be sure that she is now going to the top of my MUST READ AUTHORS list. This is a highly recommend read my friends. If you haven’t read it yet, get on it!
