living together because neither one of us is willing to give up the house.
The worst part? He didn’t come alone.
I’d soon realize there’s a thin line between love and hate. I could see through that smug smile. Beneath it all…the boy is still there. So is our connection.
The problem is…now that I can’t have Justin, I’ve never wanted him more.
I DEVOURED this book in one sitting. I simply could NOT put it down. OMG- the feels this book gave me left my skin in goosebumps. I absolutely LOVED this one. At the beginning of the story there is a love/hate relationship going on due to some serious issues the two had to overcome in their teenage years. But once the two get together and filter through their feelings and got an idea as to WHY things when down the way they did, there is a FRIENDS to LOVERS romance going on. Gosh, I loved this one to pieces! It is so much more than what I had initially anticipated. Yikes, I have a new favorite in this one. This is the FIRST (yes, I know I am behind) book I have read from Penelope Ward but it will NOT be my last. I have a feeling that many readers will agree when I say this book NEEDS to be read. All fans of romance, hot and swoon worthy male leads, stunning heroines, and all consuming, soul searing love need to pick this one up! Seriously, it’s a goodie!
At the beginning of the book there is some serious tension between the two main characters; Justin and Amelia. The reason for this tension is that the two used to be extremely close in their younger years and when Amelia upped and left she tore his heart out. SO when her Nana leaves BOTH of them her island home, the two need to come back together in spite of their feelings. Amelia of course is as sweet as pie, but Justin is a force to be reckoned with. He is quite mean in the beginning and I have to admit, at first I did not like him. But once we get to the bottom of their true feelings one can see why he feels the way he does. Eventually as the story progresses Justin becomes one of those all-time favorite book leads though, so if you don’t like arrogant men with a chip on their shoulder I urge you to continue reading. He is a character worth getting to know.
Throughout their entire roommate ordeal some serious stuff goes on. I can’t say anything more or it will really spoil the story. But let me tell you this. THIS is the part of the story where it gets GOOD. About half way through it becomes clear that the two are destined to be together even though they must go through some rough patches to get there. And when I say there are some rough patches, I mean it!
Overall, this is an intense but beautifully written story about soulmates who just needed to take their time to get back to each other. Readers will feel all sorts of emotions reading this one and possibly even find a new author that they adore just like I have. This is one of the best books (in my opinion) written in 2016. So, if you haven’t read it yet than DO IT! It truly gorgeous!
