“Professional athletes are pillars of their respective communities. They are heroes in the eyes of boys and girls and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that positively represents their community.”
The public loves a good scandal. Seeing someone fall from the pinnacle of success makes a great headline. No one knows that better than I do. What started out as a promising career in college football, spiralled into scandal and shame.
But being a hero is easier said then done. Especially when there are those who expected to see the great Brody Madden fail. I craved nothing except being the best—willing to do anything to prove them wrong. But I went too far, and I tried too hard, and it broke me.
“At the time of going to print, Jordan Elliott was unavailable for comment.”I met Brody Madden in my senior year of college. An Australian native on an international scholarship, I was the female soccer sensation with stars in her eyes and no room for a hotshot wide receiver with a chip on his shoulder.
But a heart bursting with ambition and a driving fire to succeed isn’t made of stone. I became his strength, his obsession, and the greatest love of his life. Only I wasn’t there when he needed me most.
This is a story about love and a game that takes everything. Where the path to glory is paved with sacrifice. Where pressure makes you, or breaks you, and triumph is born in the ashes of failure. Where two people’s end game will change everything.
*** 18+ recommended. Contains adult language and adult themes.

This is a great book. Fans of New Adult, College Romances will want to pick this up. It is entertaining in some aspects, dark in others, and overall very sexy. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between the two main characters; Jorden and Brody, ignite. I also enjoyed the ease of the story- it wasn’t hard to read 400 pages in 24 hours.
This book has many good qualities that deserve to be mentioned. First, it oozes sexiness. When Jorden and Brody finally come together readers will literally feel their heat. The author does a nice job adding the spice into their relationship and making it all swoon worthy. Totally delicious! Another thing I liked about this book is how the author incorporated serious issues like drug use, family issues, and learning disabilities (something that many people face and/or have to overcome). I really felt for Brody’s struggles and found myself cheering him on in his success. Finally, I like how Jorden and Brody didn’t instantly fall in love with each other and live happily ever after. In many of the romances out there today the characters fall in love in a span of minutes which makes the romance aspect totally unrealistic. But not with this book. The characters take their time, get to know one another, and find themselves head over heels after a while. It’s not insta-love, but the kind of love that takes time- which is real life!
The reason why I give this book 4.5 instead of 5 stars though is because I felt that the author covered so much in the first quarter of the book and then the ending was abrupt. I would have liked to see everything a bit more evened out in terms of what happened with them after they fell in love. Don’t get me wrong, you get your answers but there was so much “leading up” to this stage and then it was over. I would have liked to see the post-fall in love parts a bit more developed.
Overall, this is a great book. I highly recommend it. Everything about it is so real and touching that I had a hard time putting it down. It’s a wonderful book that will go down in my favorites group. Get at it, you won’t be disappointed!
