We Were Here by Daisy Prescott
Prequel to GEODUCKS ARE FOR LOVERS
Releasing: February 22, 2016
In the 90s …
texting involved paper and a pen …
… our selfies were Polaroids ...
… our favorite music was on mix tapes.
Sex was dangerous, music was raw, and falling in love felt nostalgic.
We were friends and lovers.
We thought we knew everything.
We knew nothing.
We were here.
Set in the early 1990s, a time before the internet, social media, and smart phones, We Were Here is the prequel to Geoducks Are For Lovers.
I LOVED this book. So much in fact that I immediately went to amazon and purchased Geoducks are for Lovers (book 1 in the series, also $0.99). Do you love the 90’s? Because if you do - like I do - (I grew up in the 90’s- the music is the BEST) than you will love this one just as much as me!
This book gives readers a glimpse into the lives of the Whidbey crew. These are the characters in the first book. Within each chapter readers are able to see what their life was like during their college years. It becomes pretty clear early on how connected they all are to one another and this book really makes you think of the long last friendships you have had throughout your life. I loved how much they reminded me of some of my friends, and I think readers may feel the same. This book also dedicates each chapter title to a different song from the 90’s. This will make you want to immediately go make your own mixed tape! Hehe its utter perfection!
Overall, I absolutely ADORED this book and have a feeling I will be re-reading it one day in the future so I can catch up with the crew before diving into the rest of the series. It’s pretty clear that the author has some serious talent especially considering the way she was able to successfully weave a ton of different POV’s throughout the book without confusing us. Even more, she successfully gave me the feels- I laughed, I felt emotional, I reminisced, I sang…. Gosh, it’s SO. GOOD. Read this one- please. You won’t regret it!
