But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. There’s an immediate connection, and it’s more electric than the bond of two people who endured a traumatic event. It’s something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something she is afraid to trust.
Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine...before the spark fades?

Awe! I really enjoyed Until it Fades. It's a heartwarming read and apparently much different than the authors previous novels (which I haven't read yet, sigh). Now, while there was a developing romance in this one, the main focus was on the heroine herself- the lift she leads, the troubles she has gone though, and raising a daughter as a single mom- so I would consider it a bit more women's fiction than a romance. This doesn't bother me in the slightest of course because I LOVE women's fiction novels especially as they are a way for me to escape the predictable tropes that we see in most romances. However, if you are a pure romance reader and you like a book to be only about the romance aspects then I would warn you that you don't get much of that in this novel. Also, the hero, Brett (who is also a very famous hockey player) doesn't have much of a backstory that many readers would be looking for. I truly didn't feel like I knew anything about him because the main focus of the book was for Cath, but it didn't really bother me much. So that's just a fair warning for those who NEED to know what they are getting into before reading.
Other than this, I thought this was a really sweet read. I truly enjoyed getting to know the heroine who is a very timid and introverted female. I enjoyed her uniqueness and learning about her past (which was pretty shocking). And I enjoyed her growth throughout the story. In terms of the hero, he is probably as kind as they get. Sure, we aren't able to get to know him on a very deep level, but it didn't take away from the story or from my views of him as a whole.
Would I recommend this book to fellow readers? Absolutely! It's an uplifting read with just the right amount of drama to keep readers on their toes and enough romance that make your hearts swell. Would I read more of the authors book based on this one? I sure would! But I know that her other books are much different then this one- instead of being clean and sweet they are supposedly more suspenseful and a bit darker? Either way, she writes a good story so I am interested in seeing how different her other books are.
