in need of a friend, but she also just happens to be married to David. David and Adele look like the picture-perfect husband and wife, but then why is David so controlling, and why is Adele so scared of him?
As Louise is drawn into David and Adele’s orbit, she uncovers more puzzling questions than answers. The only thing that is crystal clear is that something in this marriage is very, very wrong, but Louise can’t guess how wrong―and how far a person might go to protect their marriage’s secrets.
Wow. This book is a total mind f*ck. There are so many twists and turns and when you start to think the “road” is straightening out, it bends even more. And that ending? WOW. I really didn’t see that coming… It gave me goosebumps! Where the author came up with this stuff is beyond me, but it certainly makes the book stand out from many in the genre. Now, I can’t give away much information about the plot because I think it will spoil the story for many readers but I will say this. This is a compulsively good read and I became obsessed with it. I honestly didn’t want to put it down because I wanted to know where the story was going and how everything would wrap up in the end. Many people have mentioned that the ending of this book is totally insane and unlike any other, and I personally have to agree (because I haven’t seen anything like it). This is what actually got me to read it in the first place. So, if you want to know WHY people are talking about it like this, then you will have to read it for yourself. But be warned, it does start off a tad slow but I think this is to real draw readers into the suspenseful aspect of the book. It just builds slowly and then when everything starts to come together it BURSTS. You will probably be shocked, and you will probably like the book MORE due to the ending… Just saying.
For those who follow my reviews, please note that this is not a romance novel. This is a twisted psychological thriller that follows the lives of three individuals whose lives become intertwined through lies, deceit, and psychopathy. It is a slightly slow moving thriller, but one that will leave you NEEDING to read on because of the plot is so thick with insanity. If you are a fan of these types of books than I strongly recommend reading this one. Just be warned, you may become obsessed just like I did…
