mention a possible new romance—the worst happens. Demeter fires Katie. Shattered but determined to stay positive, Katie retreats to her family’s farm in Somerset to help them set up a vacation business. London has never seemed so far away—until Demeter unexpectedly turns up as a guest. Secrets are spilled and relationships rejiggered, and as the stakes for Katie’s future get higher, she must question her own assumptions about what makes for a truly meaningful life.
Sophie Kinsella is celebrated for her vibrant, relatable characters and her great storytelling gifts. Now she returns with all of the wit, warmth, and wisdom that are the hallmarks of her bestsellers to spin this fresh, modern story about presenting the perfect life when the reality is far from the truth.
This book is CLASSIC Sophie Kinsella and I loved every minute of it! Not since she released the Shopaholic series have I gotten so excited about one of her novels (although frankly, they are all great in their own way), but after reading this one, I know why I am so in love with her books. Sophie has weaved a story that will make readers appreciate the lives they live. A story that makes us believe in fate, even if it takes a bit to get to where we are meant to be. And, she has brought to life a group of characters that could easily become our best friends. This story is engaging, sweet, heartwarming, and down to earth. It is everything I wanted (and needed) in a novel, and I am so thankful that I could read an early a copy of it. All you readers out there, this is a fantastic book and I highly recommend reading it. So far, this is my favorite chick lit read of the year, and I am not sure how other novels are going to top it.
So, this story is about Katie (Cath, Cat?.) and her rise and fall in the branding world. You see, Katie has a job that she loves but it seems like none of her ideas are ever taken seriously. She would be fabulous at helping to rebrand items that need a makeover but her ideas are always looked over. And the topping on the cake? She loses her job (even though her boss forgot to tell her) for reasons that are sort of unknown. This forces her back to the country life with her father even if it’s the last place this up and coming Londoner wants to be. I suppose it’s not all that bad though because she has an opportunity of a lifetime when her father and Biddy set out to make their land into a glamping site (which is all the rave btw) and gets to use her skills. But when the very boss that let her go comes to this new venue, things get a little muddy (literally)…
Full of fun antics, laugh out loud moments, and characters that will absolutely touch your heart, My Not So Perfect Life is bound to please all types of readers. This is definitely one of those books to read this year, and I cannot recommend it enough to fellow readers! What a lovely and brilliant story filled with heart!
