If anyone can write historical romances its Lisa Kleyas! She is the author that actually got me started on historical romances (I picked up one of her books, Marrying Winterborne on a whim one day and never looked back!). Her writing style in this book (and her previous books in the series) is flawless and I felt like I was put on a time machine and taken back into time during the late 1800's. That my friends, is a gift that the author possesses! Sure we live in the year 2017, but when your reading this book you FEEL like you are back in time in another place. This is awesome!
In addition to this, her characters are amazing and quite relatable. Pandora, the stories heroine, is a quirky and independent woman who has no need for a husband because she wants to secure her own future for herself. However, times were different back than and for a woman to be respectable she needs to marry a man. Lucky for Pandora, her family fully supports her even though she is unconventional. But when a cynical rake - Gabriel, Lord St. Vincent - the hero of the story catches Pandora in a compromising position, she feels that in order to keep her families image a respectable one, she needs to marry. This man may be tall, dark, handsome, and charming, but will all of this sway Pandora's attitude?
Gabriel is the type of hero all women are sure to swoon after. He is deeply intelligent, charming,
and extremely likable. He also has his eyes set on the clumsy woman who he helped out of a curious position, and intends to marry her out of honor and respect. But this will prove to be a bit more difficult than this handsome creature ever believed could be...
Devil in Spring brings readers on a journey of love, passion, and excitement. There is a tiny bit of drama towards the 75% mark that I could have lived without, but loved the story despite it. Readers who enjoy historical romances, this is a great book for you! Unfamiliar with historicals or too afraid to try them? Lisa Kleypas is the author to try them with! I promise, you won't be disappointed!
Reader Note: While this book IS the third book in the Ravenels series, readers can fully enjoy it without reading the first two books in the series. They are all interconnected standalones.
PLEASE NOTE: Each book in this series can standalone. They are interconnected but you don't need information or plot points from the other books to fully enjoy this one.
