Genre: New Adult Romance. Sports (cheerleading) Romance.
Despite some negative reviews I have seen for this book I decided to give it a go because honestly, I liked the cover. I also like the blurb and haven't read any new adult romances that revolve around cheerleading. So, for me as a reader, this is a unique one. Now, while I had a few problems with the characters (mainly the heroine who is extremely down in the dumps throughout the majority of the book), I can appreciate that she is DIFFERENT then the stereotypical cheerleader that most have in mind. Instead of being very bubbly and over excited with life, she is very withdrawn and weary of people. She also has quite the attitude and a pessimistic view on life but it makes sense for what her life has been like I suppose. The hero is a completely different story. He is warm, endearing, and charming enough that readers could easily fall in love with him. He goes after what he wants and doesn't let anything stand in his way - especially the brooding heroine who stole his heart the moment he laid eyes on her.- He also comes off as very kind and generous which is the total opposite of our dear heroine.
With that, I did like this story. And frankly, I look forward to the second book to come out and am crossing my fingers that it will be one of the secondary characters story. I won't say who at this point but I have two on my mind that may come together in a brilliant way :D
Readers, this is not your stereotypical, cheerleading romance! If your looking for something with a lot of humor, and overly vivacious characters this is not what you'll get. There is a lot of emotion, some heart tugging moments, and even moments where you'll want to go into the book and physically man-handle the characters. Even still, it's good book and I would certainly recommend it!
PS: This is also a very quick read. I read it in one sitting!
