plans — she just hired my adventure tour company. If there’s one thing I’m committed to, it’s running a squeaky clean business. Number one on my list of iron-clad rules?
Don’t screw your customers.
But what's a guy to do when she's so hard to resist? How hard can it be to keep our hands off each other for a quick group tour down the hills and over the trails? I’m about to find out, and I have a feeling I’m going to need a new badge of honor because things are about to get very hard in the woods.

I enjoyed reading Lauren Blakely's newest novel, Hard Wood. Although I'll admit, it was a bit too light and fluffy for my tastes. There was NO drama and everything came together too perfectly, too fast. Now, while this isn't really my thing, I will say that I did enjoy the journey and the characters immensely. Patrick for instance, is the character that I adored the most. He's easy to love because of his charm and need for romance- unlike some male hero's I have seen in the past few months. He's also witty, has a huge heart, and has his life together. This is SHOWN through the story and Blakely's writing. Oh, and I don't want to forget that his feline friend makes him that more swoon worthy. You'll know what I mean if you have read or are planning to read this one.
Mia is the heroine of the story. She's a likable character as she didn't bring drama to the novel or do any unnecessary things to get the man she wants. Unfortunately, I just couldn't connect with her. Perhaps this is because the entire book is told in Patrick's POV? I can't be sure but I have a feeling that may be the reason. Normally, the books I read are either told in dual POV's or through the female lead. So this was a rare surprise in terms of whose head we are in for the story.
Anyway, without babbling on and on, I'll keep this review fairly short and sweet. I LIKED this book I just didn't LOVE it. It's quirky, lighthearted, low on drama (well, actually it doesn't have any), sexy, and completely charming. If you're looking for a book to get lost in for a few hours (you'll have no problem finishing this book in less then a day) then I would recommend this one to you. If you like more buildup in your book relationships and character depth, you won't find it in this one so you may want to skip it. Either way, it's enjoyable and very cute.
