nights--I would wait. But I'd learn that life isn't always fair. That no matter how much you achieve, none of it matters if you suffer the heartbreak that comes with falling for someone you can never have. Because even though I saw Manning first, that didn't matter. My older sister saw him next.
Book one in an epic, completed saga of forbidden love.

Damn! This book packed a punch and left me feeling all sorts of ways. I. Loved. This. Book. In fact, I think it's in my top 3 favorite books of the entire year. That says a lot too because it ends on the angsty cliffhanger. Good thing the next three books are available now or I wouldn't know what to do with myself.
Something in the Way is the first book in an epic forbidden romance series and is an absolute MUST read. It is also my very first Jessica Hawkins novel. Surprised? I certainly am. Because this author CAN WRITE. Yikes. This book is perfectly forbidden, but not in an erotic way. I was squirming through this book. I felt the unequivocal love between Lake and Manning (even if they did't exactly feel it themselves). I wanted things to work. I didn't want the mess, and I didn't want the angst. However, everything that happened, it seemed RIGHT. Maybe not the ending, it was unexpected and frankly infuriated me because of how badly I wanted these two star-crossed lovers to be together, but it all just WORKED. Gosh, I can't even wrap my head around it all because this book touched me deeply.
I am not going to get into the plot because I want readers to READ the novel without getting a rundown of what happened. Also, I need to read the next two books and to give everyone a plot overview would spoil the whole story. But, I will tell you this. Something in the Way is a new adult, forbidden romance. The heroine (I loved her to pieces) is a 16 year old female. The hero (he is NOT a villain GAH!!) is a 23 year old male. Some say, nah this isn't so bad, it's actually legal in some states, and I frankly would agree. Plus the fact that I know this is a work of fiction so... Anyway, you have to read this book! Especially if you love forbidden romances. This is the best FR I have ever read, and I have read A LOT. So grab a copy. Just don't be surprised if you end up getting the other two books immediately after reading this one like I did.
