You know those books that leave you feeling completely fulfilled when you finished them? The ones that leave strong impressions in your mind? And the ones that make your heart ache and pitter patter with love and butterflies all at the same time? This is that book. But to be more accurate, these feelings encompass the entire series. It's been a while since I have been able to stay on with a series. Normally I get a little bored and stop reading after a few books. That's not me disliking the authors work, but sometimes a series gets so built up in my mind that eventually they end up falling flat for me. Too much can be overkill! But I just can't with this series. These books are so strong and call to me every time I see their covers that I simply cannot look past them. Sigh.. I can't get enough.
In this story, love, betrayal (not the bad kind like cheating so don't worry), and second chances are at the forefront of the story. Our hero, Silas (swoooooonnnnn) has loved the heroine for a long time. But she moved away for 16 years and has only seen her a handful of times in those years. So when she comes back into town, for good this time, he knows it's his chance to make her see that they belong together.
Readers will experience this journey with Silas and Felicity as they slowly but surely build a relationship that has been many years in the making. There will be some suspense and drama, but it doesn't override their love for one another. It's just the perfectly balanced book with all the feels!
The only downfall that I had with this book is that I struggled a little bit to connect with Felicity. In the beginning I will admit that I didn't like her character at all. She was just portrayed differently than the heroines of the past two books. But I eventually began to like her as the book progressed and am so happy that her characters finally made her way into my heart.
If you like sweet romances with rugged cowboys, feisty heroines, and a whole lot of love, this book is a must read. Each book in this series (if you haven't had the chance to read them) are complete standalones. But I would still highly recommend reading those too. Devney Perry writes a great romance and she is very much topping the list of my must read authors based on the stories she has written thus far. I can't wait for the next installment.
Special thanks to the author and publisher for providing me an early copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my views or rating in any way.
