WTF. Did it REALLY have to end like that? Sheesh. My mind is boggled. My heart is thumping out of my chest, and I am almost at a loss for words... Almost... Once again. T.M. Frazier has written a fantastic and vivid novel about two broken souls who are able to find love. The setting is PERFECT for this novel and is almost a metaphor for Sawyer and Finn's lives. The love story is absolutely beautiful- even though it happens quite fast. And the characters? Downright amazing (I hope Miller and Josh get their own story in the future. Maybe even a Critter prequel? Could be really cool). It's been quite a while since I was able to give a book a solid 5 star rating but this one DESERVES IT. I can't freakin wait for the Outliers. I need the book NOW NOW NOW (stomps feet). Grab this one. You won't regret it.
Sawyer: She was raised in a strict religious upbringing where women were secondary to men. She couldn't read books without approval, wear modern clothes, or think about anything ungodly (sex, swearing, etc.). When her mother commits suicide she finds a box that was hidden for her- one that gives her the escape she had always craved- and uses it's contents to leave her horrendous life behind her. Where does she go? A small and almost dilapidated town called the Outskirts. The very place where her mother had found some sort of freedom. And it's in the Outskirts that Sawyer finally meets people and finds a place to call home. Never in her wildest dreams would she have expected to meet her soulmate in her broody neighbor... But love happens in the weirdest ways.
Finn: Finn is suffering from a tragedy that took the woman he loved away two years ago. He hasn't kept in touch with friends and has become a recluse. He lives on his own land in a shack(ish) home in the swamps of the Outskirts. To his disapproval, a girl with a lot of freckles stumbles into his little humble abode throwing his life off kilter. He has no intentions of falling for this girl. But fate has other plans for him...
What happens with these two? Who the hell knows! It ends in a dang cliffhanger. WAHHH! I mean, I have some ideas, but I guess I have to wait for the final book in the duet. Sigh...
This book is FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC. I have been reading T.M. Frazier's books since she got published and have loved every.single.one since then. She continues to amaze me with her writing skills, vivid details to setting and emotions, and bringing is amazing characters who most would consider outcasts. This book, dare I say, may be my favorite of her's yet and I am so excited to share it with others so they can take a chance on it. So grab your copy! :D
