Read my Book Review
Release Date: June 13, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance with paranormal elements
I wasn't sure whether to read this one or not as I have a ton of books on my TBR pile (it's a mile long) and I have only read one other book by the author. However, I have to admit that I am so glad I did! Sure, there are some parts that I think the story would have survived without, but in the end I found myself smiling and feeling content for both of the characters. I suppose one would consider this a "feel good" story, however don't let that fool you. Yes, you will feel great once you finished the story and everything is wrapped up in a neat little bow BUT getting to the HEA was a tough one for these two. There were quite a few dramatic moments (and I'll admit, I rolled my eyes a few times) but the author wrote these characters to near perfection. So it ultimately made these dramatic moments worth it.
That said, if you enjoyed the first book in this series - How to Save a Life - you will enjoy this one. Don't worry if you haven't though as both books can stand completely alone. If you HAVE read the first book though you will be happy to know that the hero makes a few appearances in this one. :D
A little more about THIS story (mild spoilers ahead)
Nikolai, the hero of this story, is the one with the paranormal gift. He can see peoples emotions as colors and sometimes hear or taste them. He had a really hard time growing up because of this anomaly so he made it his lifes mission to pretty much be on his own. But when he meets a sweet woman swathed in pink (her aura, not clothes) he feels something stir in him,
Something he hasn't felt in a long time... It's peace.
Fiona, out stories heroine, is running from something but has kept it bottled up for a long time.
That something would be an abusive ex husband. Determined to have only a one night stand with the handsome man covered in tattoos seems like a good idea as it will allow her to finally feel something again. But intended or not, she ends up wanting more of him. But to keep him, she will have to go through a lot of loop holes. Especially considering she is keep her abusive marriage and everything surrounding her past life a secret...
(End of Spoilers)
Overall, I really did enjoy this one. It's easy to read in a day and become totally immersed in the story. At first, I thought this would be an average read (maybe 3 stars) as I could almost predict everything that was going to happen, but it wasn't. And I think it's pretty telling that it's a great book if you feel happy and content when finished.
So, if your looking for a read with hints of paranormal, one that will make you smile and swoon (I loved the hero) then grab your copy of this one. You won't be disappointed.
